Though getting loaded by three was me and Ronnie's explicit intent
The perfect buzz was partly strategy and partly accident
Acid gets me heady, and coke makes Ronnie mean
So we were playing safe with THC, alcohol, caffeine

"The silliness of it all is that the original price from which the discount is computed is often specious to begin with, because items hardly ever sell at that price, which makes the discount less legitimate."

- Mark Cohen, a professor at the Columbia Business School who has held senior retail positions, on how retailer discounts may not be the deal consumers think they are. Quoted in the wall Street Journal article "The Dirty Secret of Black Friday 'Discounts'."

"We are all bathing in ignorance. It is an integral part of life. Guess what, that is not a bad thing at all. It is the unknown that has driven humankind for eons to explore and discover our environs. Most Americans, actually many across the globe, have no clue who Sikhs are. And, believe me, there are many people and things I have no clue about either. Ignorance is not the problem. It is what we do with ignorance, our ensuing actions, that create real moments in life. Would I love to see everyone on this planet know who Sikhs are, not make us targets of hate, leave us alone and do a better job of targeting someone else? Hell no. I want a world where we can embrace each other despite our ignorance, in celebration of our differences."

- Vishavjit Singh, a Sikh cartoonist, who spent a day in New York City dressed as Captain America in a turban.

"The moral of this story here is really clear. We've got to make face-to-face time sacred, and we have to bring back the saying we used to hear all the time, and now never hear, 'Look at me when I talk to you.'"

"In whatever arena of life one may meet the challenge of courage, whatever may be the sacrifices he faces if he follows his conscience - the loss of his friends, his fortune, his contentment, even the esteem of his fellow men - each man must decide for himself the course he will follow. The stories of past courage can define that ingredient - they can teach, they can offer hope, they can provide inspiration. But they cannot supply courage itself. For this each man must look into his own soul."

- John F. Kennedy (1917-1963), U.S. President, from his book Profiles in Courage.

"The sexual morality of our society tells a story which goes something like this: "Most men would like to make love to most women, most of the time." The one thing that prevents all of this indiscriminate coupling from taking place is the female power to resist. Women are therefore more discriminating, more self-controlled and in general the keepers of the keys to the sexual experience. If it is such a bother to be so attractive to men, I don't quite understand the need for all the dieting, the make-up, the various sprays, the perfumes, the clothing, etc. The name of the game seems to be, "He shall want me, but he shall not have me." If he doesn't want, perhaps a different hair-do, a new dress, a more exotic perfume will do the trick. This can be a very demanding, tiring, expensive and frustrating process. I'm sure it is degrading."

This OCD both a gift and a curse,
there's no denying it comes in handy when I'm scripting a verse.
But on the other hand, when I'm making my bed,
it takes me half an hour, make a mistake, start again.
Until I get it looking perfect,
then and only then can I start writing these verses.
Otherwise, man I just can't focus,
knowing that these sheets are in hopeless
disarray, leaving my mind in a similar state
no relief until I get em straightened
out to my exact specifications.
And don't ask if I've been on medication,
'cuz I have, and it didn't do jack,
I have OCD, I just live with the fact.

"I'm all for people to learning to code - I wrote a piece arguing we should teach it in prisons earlier this year - but I think we need to be aware of its limitations. Coding is a niche, mechanical skill, a bit like plumbing or car repair.

"As a subject, it only appeals to a limited set of people - the aforementioned dull weirdos. There's a reason most startup co-founders are "the charming ideas guy" paired with "the tech genius". It's because if you leave the tech genius on his own he'll start muttering to himself."

- Willard Foxton, on why not all children need to learn how to program computers.
