It is in the O.E.D." - Katherine Connor Martin, head of U.S. dictionaries for Oxford University Press, on a 1852 book called "Meanderings of Memory". The book was the source for forty-nine words in the Oxford English Dictionary, but no copy is known to exist. The OED has issued a public appeal to locate a copy.
